AFC Asian Cup Diary Day 7

21st Jan 2015

Wednesday, January 21 – Day 7

There was to be no filming done on the Wednesday and all that was really required was to edit and voice the packages we had done on the previous day from hell!

Thanks to the awesome Abdul, it was a pretty straightforward affair as I just sat back and let him work his magic with just the odd input from my good self.

Rick, my cameraman for the first few days, had left that morning to continue his day job so Toby came on board in his stead, another genuine, down-to-earth Aussie who it’s impossible not to get on with.

With nothing to film it was an easy day for him and once the voice overs were done that was it for him… Too easy, as the Aussies say!

We wrapped up at about 2pm and that left plenty of time to head back to Melbourne Park and catch some tennis. It was around 3pm when I remembered that there were press conferences taking place later in the afternoon ahead of the first quarter-final the next day… Given that I was doing my first stand ups before the game I figured I’d probably be best served by turning up and knowing what was going on!

Attended both pressers, asked South Korea coach Uli Stielike a question (which he answered somewhat disdainfully), took some notes and that was that.

Headed to Melbourne Park to catch some tennis, catch up with friends, sink a few and prepare myself for a busy Thursday; quarter-finals awaited!
